Bunjevci Croats from Backa visited Dalmatia

The five-day manifestation 'Days of Croats of Bunjevac in Split and Split-Dalmatin County', which was held in several locations in Split, Solin and Kaštela, has ended.

The event was organized by the Croatian Mother of Emigrants and the Croatian Mother in Split, in cooperation with HU Benedikt, Hrvatski nadzemlje and the Art Association "Emanuel Vidović".

The whole event started with a gathering at the Archbishop's Seminary in Split, where representatives of the organizers, the City and the County gathered. Mirjana Trkulja, director of the news and publishing institution "Hrvatska rije", thanked Split for the welcome and presented the institution, which has existed since 2002 as a professional institution of Croats in Serbia with the aim of informing members of the Croatian minority community in the Croatian language.

The editor-in-chief of the weekly "Hrvatska riječ" Zlata Vasiljević presented the magazine of the same name, which is published in 1500 copies.

The director of the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Croats, Katarina Čeliković, presented the role of the Institute, stating that it is the first professional institution in the culture of Vojvodina Croats established by the Decision of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina from March 10, 2008 and the Decision of the National Council of the Croatian National Minority from March 29, 2008 in order to preserve, improve and develop the culture of the Croatian minority community in Vojvodina.

The program was magnified by the tambura players with the songs "Hey, farmers", "I don't step on my feet" and "Bunjevka sam, to je dika".

The event continued on Sunday with a holy mass in the church of St. Joseph on Mertojak led by Don Vjenceslav Kujundžić and an exhibition of works in straw and an evening concert by tambura players and hosts at the Gradina in Solina. Folklorists HKPD Matija Gubec from Tavankut and FA Jedinstvo from Split performed together and delighted a large audience.

The guests from Bačka were received by the representatives of the City and the County, as well as the organizers, Ante Ćaleta, president of the Croatian Matica of Emigrants, Split branch, and Snježana Šetka, president of the Croatian Matica in Split. The important event is also being followed by our media Croatiansonline, so the representatives of the Croats of Bunjevac will be guests this Saturday in the section "Our beautiful Dalmatia" in the live program on Saturdays.

The event continued in Kaštela, where the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Croats and the National University of Croatia 'Hrvatska riječ' were presented, which once again showed how Croatian customs are preserved and the Croatian language is nurtured in Vojvodina.

The final program of this beautiful manifestation took place on the streets of Split, where Split folklorists from FA Jedinstvo and members of HKPD Matija Gubec from Tavankut walked and danced together in Split's squares and streets.

The combination of Dalmatian dance, letters and dance from the farm to the sounds of the tambourine is definitely an event that delighted the people of Split, as well as many tourists on the Riva, Pjaca, Fruit Square...
They parted with a wish: It happened again!
