On Tuesday evening, Zlatan Stipišić Gibonni presented his poetry book "Banderas de un imperio hundido (Flags of a sunken empire)" in the Hvar theater, which was published in Spanish by the Isla Negra publishing house for Latin America.
Selected texts from decades of his successful work were included in a book edited by writer and university professor from Puerto Rico Carlos Roberto Gomez.
"We have translated Gibonni's poetry and we want to present it throughout South America, because I think that in addition to being a musical star, Gibonni is a real poet." said Carlos Roberto Gomez, in the video shown during the presentation of the book in the theater in Hvar. And the treat was that the texts of Gibonni's poems were read in addition to Carlos Roberto Gomez by Marijan Ban, Saša Lošić from the Blue Orchestra, HNK Split actor Trpimir Jurkić, and Hvar professor Milan Lakoš, who for this occasion translated one of Gibonni's poems ("Gdje to piša") in the Hvar dialect.
A special round of applause went to Marijan Ban, the former frontman of Daleka Obale, who has not been in the public eye for a long time, but this time he especially delighted with the audio recording of the recitation of the song Udica, which he sent through the host of the program, Željko Maretić.
The book was printed in the Dominican Republic, from where it will be distributed throughout the Spanish-speaking countries.
