Sinj's heritage is rich in historical events and people, and the exhibition 'Sinj's story of a Croatian eagle' is dedicated to one of them, which opens on Saturday evening in the Cetinje Krajina Museum. The history of Sinj, as we know, is intertwined with various names of individuals and families, after which streets, houses and even parts of the city are named today.
However, it sometimes happens that those who have influenced parts of society with their work or personality are left without adequate recognition or simply - are forgotten under the burden of history and events that reverberated in these areas. One such person, the most prominent member of the old Brainović family from Sinj, was Antica Tonka Melada (née Brainović), artist, president of the Croatian Catholic Girls' Association Zora, popularly known as Orlica.
Precisely for this reason, in these traditional Sinj days, the Museum of Cetinje Krajina presents an exhibition about the city life of Sinj from the beginning of the 20th century, about traditions and values closely related to the spirit and atmosphere of that era, which flow into our time as well, and all this through the story of a woman who influenced the culture and upbringing of young girls in the early twenties of the 20th century - Antica Melada, president of the Croatian Catholic Girls' Association Zora - Orlica.
As part of the exhibition, a rich donation of various materials by Mirjam Ćaleta, granddaughter of Antica Melada, will be shown.
Visitors will discover how life was in Sinj more than a century ago through this unique exhibition until October 4. In memory of Antica and all the deserving, but lesser-known women and men of Sinjan.
