[AUDIO ON SPOTIFY] Fra Ivica Vrbić: The most important thing is to feel gratitude for everything we have

From faraway Bolivia, we have received a call from Fr. Ivica Vrbić, a Croatian Capuchin Franciscan who has been working as a missionary for almost nine years. As he points out, the missionary vocation in Bolivia is more demanding than in Africa. In addition to the country facing an economic crisis, it is additionally affected by a serious family crisis. As many as 70% of children in Bolivia grow up without a biological father, which creates deep emotional wounds in young people that are difficult to heal.

When asked how we can help the missions, Fr. Ivica highlights three key ways. First, by developing gratitude for what we have. Second, by prayer because, as he says, “a wounded heart cannot be healed with money.” Third, by renouncing unnecessary expenses and donating that money to help with education and healthcare.

A student dormitory is currently being built in Bolivia to provide a better future for young people from remote areas without secondary schools. The project is worth $1.200.000, and you can support it with a donation through the Astoria parish. Payment details can be found on the barcode below.
