The historian Dr. Hrvoje Mandić, author of the book "The Franciscan Province of Herzegovina in the Second World War and the Aftermath", was a guest in the Croatians Online studio.
This book is based on decades of research into the issues of the Herzegovinian Franciscans during the Second World War and its aftermath. It is extremely important for elucidating the circumstances of the murder of the Franciscans on Široki Brijeg in February 1945 and proves that they were not collateral victims of war operations, but were liquidated according to a premeditated plan, out of hatred for religion and for propaganda-political reasons.
As an extended doctoral dissertation, the book was published in 2021, and these days it received an English edition that was presented in New York. On this occasion, our Damir Kolich spoke with Dr. Mandić, listen to the entire interview on Spotify.
