PHOTO The official premiere of the movie "Celebration" based on the novel by Damir Karakaš was held in Gospić

Last night, a festive screening of the multi-awarded feature film "Celebration" directed by Bruno Anković was held in the packed Korzo cinema. At the premiere in Gospić, screenwriter Jelena Paljan, lead actress Klara Fiolić, actresses Tena Šubarić and Viktorija Lulić, numerous extras from the Lika region and the author of the novel based on which the film was made, Damir Karakaš, were guests at the premiere in Gospić.

The audience in Gospić received a great response to the film, which follows twenty years in the life of the main character and his family in a poor village in Lika. At the end of the Second World War, tired and defeated, the soldier Mijo hides in the forest and watches his native village from his hiding place, to which he must not return. Mijo takes us on a journey into the past, and through three key moments of his life we investigate the circumstances that lead to extremism in society.

"It's not a film that deals with ideologies, it's a film that deals with ordinary people, our grandfathers, fathers, and in that way shows a history, how hard it was for us in various living conditions", said director Bruno Anković.

"I fell in love with Damir's book and Lika. It's a big, sad and powerful story, and that's why I decided to make a film",  he added and emphasized that the recording was not easy at all: "We filmed in several blocks - autumn, winter, spring, summer, at minus 17 and in heavy rain. Lika welcomed us wonderfully with people and nature, but very difficult with the conditions in which we worked."

"I find Brinj's speech wonderful and I think this is a film we should all watch. I am very grateful for this project because I learned a lot from it", said the main actress Klara Fiolić, while Viktorija Lulić, a young woman from Perušić who played the main character's sister in the film, said that filming the film was an unforgettable experience for her that she would like to repeat.

"The film had screenings in big cities, but I liked it the most in Gospić. There are great reactions at the end, people are delighted with the film and I am very happy about that.", said Damir Karakaš.

"Proslava" had its world premiere at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, and at the Pula Film Festival it was awarded the Great Golden Arena for the best Croatian film and the Golden Arenas for the screenplay, photography and best actor. The film will be distributed in cinemas throughout Croatia from today.
