Sydney was replaced by Vinkovci - "an ideal place to raise a family"

The young couple from Australia moved to the land of their ancestors, recently started their own business, and will present their products at the Vinkovac Autumn Festival.

Every story has a beginning, and every name has its roots. "The Pita Project" is inspired by Croatian heritage, and behind it are Marko Radočaj and his wife Mateja, who came to Vinkovci from Australia two years ago.

Marko and his family actually moved to the country of his parents, who moved to another continent 50 years ago. He was born there, just like his wife, whose parents are also Australian Croats. He says that he was always attracted to the land of his ancestors, and after each visit to Vinkovci, the desire to return grew stronger.

"We wanted to be and live in Croatia. Before, we only came on vacation, but something drew us to come to Vinkovci, and there is nothing more beautiful than that," says Marko, who is delighted with the small, warm town and warm-hearted people, ideal for raising a family. "We have three children. The oldest is 7 years old, the middle one is 5 and the baby is 10 weeks old. he says without hiding his pride that his daughter was born in Vinkovci. He continues, they may know the Croatian language better than he does because it is known that children absorb and learn faster.

The springboard for the expansion of the business, as well as the beginning of the production of some other products, are precisely this year's Vinkovac autumns, where they will present their specialties to their fellow citizens and numerous visitors, and the very idea of this project came from his wife Mateja. "My grandmother was from Bosnia and the idea came from her, but my mother-in-law also made pies, so they were our inspiration." recounts.

As part of their cafe and restaurant in Australia, they brought something of ours, making pies, and apart from them they have great burgers and "loaded fries", if you want to try something new. People often ask her what is the secret of a good pie, to which she replies "Simply love. You need to be calm and love it", he points out.

In addition to this love, there is also love towards Vinkovci. "We have everything here. Children love the city, it's a smaller place, unlike big Sydney, but also safe", he claims.

They unanimously point out that in Vinkovci they see an opportunity for a good, happy and fulfilling life, but also progress in developing their business. We believe that the people of Vinkovci will recognize the quality and hard work of this young married couple who found their happiness in this city.
