The "Domovina" summer school connects Croatian communities around the world

This year, in the period from June 18 to July 1, 2024, the "Homeland" Summer School will be held for the third time.

The Domovina Summer School ("Homeland Birthright Program") is a project of the Central State Office for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, which was created in partnership with the Association of Croatian-American Experts, and is intended for young people between the ages of 18 and 30.

The project is held for the purpose of strengthening the identity of Croatian emigrants, encouraging global networking of Croats, cultural and scientific cooperation with the young generation of descendants of Croatian emigrants, developing and strengthening heritage tourism in the Republic of Croatia, and strengthening awareness of the indivisible Croatian nation.

In fourteen days, the participants of the Summer School will visit many locations of cultural, religious and historical significance for the Croatian people around the world. They will get to know the wealth of Croatian gastronomy, music, the Croatian language and the beauty of life in the homeland of their ancestors.

With the participation of young descendants of Croatian emigrants who come from South America, Australia, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Europe and the United Kingdom, this project has an additional goal of connecting Croatian communities around the world. Through dialogue and the joint discovery of Lijepa Naša, participants who come from different continents will be able to recognize the similarities and differences that connect their and other Croatian communities far from their homeland.
Several cities that the participants will visit during the Summer School are Dubrovnik, Sinj, Zadar, Varaždin, Osijek, Vukovar, Šibenik, Split and Zagreb.
