Upon entering Croatian airspace, the Croatia Airlines plane carrying the Croatian handball team was greeted by multi-role Rafale fighter jets of the Croatian Air Force, which then ceremoniously escorted them to the "Franjo Tuđman" Airport.
"A big salute to the Croatian handball team! The pilots of the Croatian Air Force congratulate you on this incredible and historic success. Your fighting spirit, courage, unity and sportsmanship have brought us great joy and pride. The whole of Croatia celebrates your medal! Welcome home”, is a message from a Croatian Air Force pilot to handball players.
To thank Croatia for its great support during the World Handball Championship, the Rafales and the plane with the handball players also flew over Ban Josip Jelačić Square, where a central ceremonial reception was organized.
