We have a recipe for a delicious strudel from Ozalj dvor, which will be prepared at the Strudlafest!

The beginning of September is already traditionally reserved for Strudlafest in Jaškov not far from Ozalj. Only half an hour from Zagreb and an hour from Rijeka, there is a festival that attracts thousands of visitors every year. This year Štrudlafest again offers great tastes, but also great concerts and numerous workshops for children and adults.

Strudlafest opens on Friday, September 6 when you are expecting a concert by the Psihomodo Pop group, which they aptly called "I love only (myself) strudel". Of course, on the first day there is Štrudla by kayak and Štrudla step by step, as well as a show by Štrudlafest's golden ambassador - aunt Marica.

Saturday is reserved for the competition, so it is chosen this year as well the best strudel in Croatia, and this year "Štrudla iz Chicago" is coming - a show prepared by Croats from America. There is also panoramic helicopter ride over Štrudlafest and it is a novelty this year that will surely add extra charm to the sweetest festival. In addition to flying, you can also explore this festival by bicycle, and there are also numerous creative and gastronomic workshops that will teach you a lot. A traditional gastro corner awaits you, and don't miss the ranch with Scottish cattle that will surely delight you.

In addition to the great flavors that you will taste, don't forget to take your little ones on the zip line that HGSS has prepared for you this year, as well as the workshops of Aquatics and the Nikola Tesla Experience Center. This year Strudelfest it also has a plasticine farm where you will have the opportunity to create miracles with your own hands.

Sunday is also reserved for numerous gastronomic workshops, and a team from Austria is arriving to present itself with strudel from Seeboden. KUD Vivodina will introduce us to a household from some ancient times, and if you want to add color to this whole event - there is also facepainting. The festival will be closed by the popular Toma, who prepared an acoustic concert for the end, and all of this would not have been possible if Štrudlafest had not had the support of HTZ, the City of Ozlja, TZ Područja Kupa and TZ Karlovac County, which supported this great project again this year.

So Jaškovo, from September 6 to 8 – the sweetest festival that you shouldn't miss. And if you are impatient, find the recipe for a delicious strudel below and try your hand at making this dessert.

    RECIPE:

Strudla from Ozalj dvor (approx. 12 servings)

Dough: 480 g of flour, 100 ml of oil, 20 g of salt, 300 ml of water

Stuffing: 1,5 kg of pumpkin (if you don't have it, you can also use zucchini), 0,10 kg of ginger, 0,5 kg of porcini mushrooms or other mushrooms (if you don't have it, you can use champignons), 0,5 kg of bacon, 0,3 kg of old onion, 0,2 kg of domestic pork fat, salt as needed and to taste.

    Preparation:

Mix the above ingredients into a dough that should rest for about 30 minutes. During this time, prepare the filling. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and spread it with oil and leave the oil for 2-3 minutes for the dough to absorb it.

During this time, prepare the filling: fry the onion in fat until golden, add bacon and mushrooms, simmer for about 20 minutes. Cool the mixture. Grate the pumpkins, salt them and leave them to stand for 10 minutes so that they release the water.

Then use your fingers to stretch the dough as thin as possible. Put the drained pumpkin on half of the stretched dough, then sprinkle the cooled mixture of onions, mushrooms and bacon. Grate the ginger and sprinkle it over the previously placed filling. The filling is placed halfway up the stretched dough, and roll the strudel with the other half. Roll the strudel into the desired shape (in smaller portions - which gives more edges for all those who like edges, or form a snail or some other shape).

Put the strudel in a baking sheet that you have previously coated with oil. Bake in an oven heated to 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

The recipe is inspired by the cuisine and old recipes of the noble Zrinski family, which was prepared in the magical Old Town of Ozlje in the 17th century.
