The idea/evidence of climate change can best be described in terms of the power, magnitude ratings of storms. Milton landed 10 miles south of Tampa Bay, Florida with wind speed up to 160 miles per hour, inflicting major damage to areas on or close to the ocean.
Milton was a category 4 storm. A few Croatians live on the west coast near Clearwater and Tampa Bay. I spoke with Ivan Vozila who lives in Cape Corral, located near Fort Myers, and he said that that area did not suffer crippling results of the storm, and their electric power remained intact.
I spoke with Ivan Zuzic who lives in the Pasco and Pinellas counties, near Tampa Bay, and he was without electrical power.
“I have a friend who lives in Sandkey near Clearwater and the ocean claimed her car. I have two friends from the Island of Krk who were advised to move their cars on higher ground, but did not listen and thus lost their cars to water as well. Thank God I don’t know of anyone who was injured,” said the well-spoken retired gentleman who used to live in Queens, New York.
Dario Zuljani fled to his daughter’s home in North Carolina to avoid the uncertainty.
My friend Paul has a family home in Tampa near NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium. The mango tree planted many years ago was completely uprooted and there was damage to the roof of the home (see photo).
The photos included above are of Honeymoon Island located near Clearwater with its street full of damaged furniture and missing roofs.
What is important to understand is that our planet is a living organism (GAJA) with feedback loops, thus one thing affects another. Human activities via autos and industry alter the relationships in the organism that is the Earth, as excessive drinking scars the liver in our body. Modern living has a downside as seen in the power of the above storms, which results because of warming of ocean water.
