Thankfully, there are people in this world who do “God’s work”; priest Giordano Belanic is one of them. At the age of 77 and in a state of congestive heart failure, Father Belanic is involved in helping the victims of the Venezuela earthquake, especially Croatians who live in Caracas, the capital (via. Priest Puskaric).
Father Belanic has been a priest for over 50 years and is presently serving the catholic community of the greater Fairview, New Jersey community. Though he is technically retired, his Volunteerism continues. Father Gio, as he is often called, truly believes in doing God’s work, which in turn means helping people in need and living the principle the Bible prescribes.
“My life’s work is intertwined with God’s intentions. There are so many people across the planet in desperate situations. My actions throughout the years have been to help them as much as possible. My nonprofit organization, Croatia Relief, and its volunteers have been spearheading this effort for over 30 years. Haiti is/was one of our focal points as well, with Cardinal Stepinac support center being located there. I’m praying that my health remains stable so that I can continue doing this work,” said the prolific, active giver.
At the Most Precious Blood Church in Astoria, NY (Hrvatska Katolička Misija, Blaženog Ivana Merca). The parishioners were fortunate to have Father Gio deliver the mass so that the Croatian mass on Sundays continues uninterrupted. He is a blessing to this planet, and the proof is in his Volunteerism. You can listen to a brief video interview by clicking below.
