The Croatian Embassy hosted an incredible concert celebrating Croatian National Day performed by the world-renowned female group Klapa “Neverin.” A full house was entertained by various songs based on traditional Dalmatian, popular, and patriotic Croatian songs, like Ne dirajte mi ravnicu and Moj dida i ja.
This program was financed and organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Croatian Embassy. Attendees include the Croatian Ambassador to the United States Pjer Šimonović, who received a special gift on behalf of the Klapa “Neverin.” Branka Pažin from the Croatian Embassy also received a gift from the group as a token of gratitude for organizing this concert.
The evening followed with a public reception with a section of Croatian wine and cheese and prosciutto and a special moment of bonding between members of Klapa “Neverin,” and concert attendees sang along to more nostalgic songs about the homeland.
“The group performed beautifully and reminded me of my wedding in Croatia,” said a concert attendee with her husband.
Two days before the concert, a previous reception was held for a private audience in the Embassy on Tuesday, June 4th, for Croatian Statehood Day and the Day of the Croatian Armed Forces, where Klapa “Neverin” first performed for the Embassy. The private reception included LTG Jon A. Jensen, Director of the Army National Guard, Ms. Colleen Hyland, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of State, and Nathalie Rayes, the American Ambassador to Croatia. Songs included U.S. and Croatian national anthems.
Klapa “Neverin” is a female Klapa group founded in Kaštel Lukšić in 2004.
