His achievements are underscored by his current roles as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor at the University of Melbourne. His accomplishments have earned him fellowship in prestigious scientific academies such as the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.

    Furthermore, Professor Marusic’s international acclaim is evident through awards such as the Order of the Croatian Pletera from the Republic of Croatia and the Stanley Corrsin Award from the American Physical Society. Most notably, his recent recognition as a Fellow of The Royal Society places him among the world’s foremost scientists, marking a pinnacle in his career and making him the 5th Croatian ever to receive this esteemed honor.
