How did Antun Lucic, born in Split, Croatia, in 1855, make a historic contribution to the American Oil/Energy Enterprise?

Antun Lučić, later known as Anthony Francis Lucas, was born in Split on September 9, 1855. His father, Stjepan Lučić, was a prosperous shipbuilder from the island of Lesina. Both father and son were descendants of Dalmatian nobility, and Antun remained proud of his heritage after moving to America in 1879. At the age of 20, Antun completed his mechanical engineering education at the Polytechnic Institute in Graz. In 1879, he visited his uncle in Saginaw, Michigan, and began working at a sawmill, where he improved the design of a gang saw. In 1883, he began working in the gold,

Father Giordano Belanic, Founder of Croatian Relief, helping Earthquake Victims of Venezuela

Thankfully, there are people in this world who do “God’s work”; priest Giordano Belanic is one of them. At the age of 77 and in a state of congestive heart failure, Father Belanic is involved in helping the victims of the Venezuela earthquake, especially Croatians who live in Caracas, the capital (via. Priest Puskaric). Father Belanic has been a priest for over 50 years and is presently serving the catholic community of the greater Fairview, New Jersey community. There are communism, fascism, racism, words, and ideas that live worlds from my heart. My new favorite word, volunteerism, truly and in all respects gives itself. The word “volunteer” means to give of oneself for the benefit of others. The practitioners of this art are usually skimmed over, like a crushed strawberry in a cup of ice cream. In most cases, the small percentage of folks who participate in or practice this ritual of giving are subsumed as background noise/décor.
